At 10 PM local time, the control room of a copper mine in a Central Asian country was still brightly lit. Real-time data such as crusher current, mill load, and flotation liquid level flashed on a large screen. Chinese technicians and local operators were intently monitoring the screens, using dozens of cameras to monitor every step of the production line.

This modern mineral processing plant, built by a Chinese company, has been operating continuously for over 300 days since it went into operation last year. Inside the main plant, the 5.5-meter diameter ball mill emitted a deep roar, its magnetic liners gleaming metallically under the lights. Inspection records from Chinese engineers showed that this core grinding equipment had been operating stably for over 7,000 hours, processing over 2 million tons of ore. In the flotation workshop, 48 aerated flotation machines were neatly arranged. The slurry, stirred by the impellers, created layers of foam, and the copper concentrate was continuously collected by scrapers along with the bubbles and flowed into the concentrate sluice.

“When production first started, the local workers didn’t even know how to do simple equipment checks,” the on-site project manager recalled. Now, after hands-on training by the Chinese team, more than 20 local operators can independently complete daily inspections and parameter adjustments. In the control room, local operator Muhammad skillfully retrieved the night shift production report: “The Chinese mentors taught me how to read data and adjust the equipment. Now I know what current fluctuations mean.”
