Visiting the production site of a copper mine in Yunnan, the plant is clean and orderly. The entire process utilizes a closed-loop conveyor system, equipped with baghouse dust collectors, ensuring dust emissions strictly comply with industry standards. The 28 employees operate under standardized procedures. The site employs mainstream flotation technology, laid out according to a “crushing → grinding → flotation → dewatering” process, adapted to the characteristics of local sulfide copper ore, balancing high efficiency and environmental protection.
In the crushing workshop, jaw crushers and cone crushers work together to crush the raw ore to below 25mm. After screening by a vibrating screen, unqualified materials are returned to the fine crushing stage, forming a closed-loop cycle. In the grinding area, ball mills and hydrocyclones work in tandem to grind the ore to approximately -200 mesh (68%), ensuring sufficient liberation of copper minerals from gangue, laying the foundation for subsequent flotation.
The flotation workshop is the core area, with six flotation machines operating smoothly. Staff precisely control the amount of reagents added, using lime as a modifier and xanthate as a collector. Copper minerals are adsorbed onto the surface of bubbles, forming mineralized foam. Through a roughing, scavenging, and cleaning process, copper minerals are gradually enriched. In the central control room, an online grade analyzer monitors concentrate indicators in real time, enabling automated control of reagent addition and grinding concentration.
In the dewatering area, a thickener and a ceramic filter work together to dewater the flotation concentrate slurry to a moisture content below 12%. The dewatered copper concentrate is a yellowish-brown powder, which is conveyed to the stockpile via belt conveyor. According to the on-site manager, this production line processes 1,500 tons of raw ore per day, with a copper grade of 0.8%. The concentrate grade is consistently above 20.5%, the beneficiation recovery rate reaches 90%, and the wastewater reuse rate is 85%. The economic and environmental benefits are significant, fully meeting the “three rates” requirements for mineral resources.
