Mineral Concentrator
A mineral processing thickener can be seen as a “giant water purifier” and “dewatering vanguard” in a mineral processing plant. Located before the dryer, its core task is to perform preliminary solid-liquid separation on the low-concentration slurry produced in the previous stage (such as flotation or magnetic separation).
Working Principle:
Utilizing gravity settling: After the slurry enters the central cylinder, it slowly diffuses, solid particles sink, and clear water rises and overflows; the bottom scraper slowly rotates, scraping the sludge to the central discharge port, forming a high-concentration slurry.
Main Functions:
First, it concentrates the dilute slurry into a high-concentration underflow, reducing the burden on subsequent filtration or drying stages; second, it recovers a large amount of clear water, which can be directly returned to the production line for recycling, crucial for water-scarce areas and environmentally conscious factories.
Equipment Features:
Flocculant Addition System: This is the “magic potion” of the high-efficiency thickener. By adding flocculant, it acts like a large net, “netting” together the fine particles in the water to form large, rapidly settling flocs, greatly improving the settling speed.
Automatic Rake Lifting Device: Thickeners are most vulnerable to “rake pressing” (excessive material buildup causing the rake frame to become stuck). Modern equipment is equipped with an automatic rake lifting device controlled by hydraulics or PLC. When excessive resistance is detected (e.g., pressure reaching 4 MPa), the rake frame automatically lifts; once the pressure returns to normal (e.g., below 2.5 MPa), it slowly lowers, achieving fully automatic protection and eliminating concerns about equipment jamming.
Inclined Plate Technology:
Adding numerous inclined plates to the settling zone of the thickener is equivalent to dividing a large pond into countless miniature pipes. Particles only need to settle a short distance to hit the plate wall and slide off, thus significantly increasing the actual settling area and improving processing capacity.
